Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
