THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal practice since she was actively a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
