Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 and assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond her legal profession as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's needs.
