THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
